Raymarine ACU-100 Actuator Control Unit Technical Guide
The ACU-100 is designed for low-power drive units, specifically the Raymarine Wheel Drive, Tiller Drive, and the 0.5L Hydraulic Pump. It is the core power component for the EV-100 system and is optimized for vessels under 16,500 lbs displacement.
Unlike the larger ACU units, the ACU-100 does not provide power to the SeaTalkng backbone. You must use a separate power cable (A06049) to energize your network, which then provides power to the EV-1 sensor and the p70s control head.
Yes, the ACU-100 has a dedicated terminal block for a rudder reference unit. While many wheel pilot users rely on virtual rudder feedback, adding a physical sensor significantly improves the autopilot's performance in heavy following seas.
The ACU-100 is rated for 7A continuous output. This makes it very energy efficient for small boats, but it means you cannot use it with Type 1 or Type 2 pumps, as the higher current demand will trip the unit's internal safety breakers.
The ACU-100 is rated IPX2, meaning it is protected against dripping water but should be mounted in a dry, ventilated location. Avoid mounting it in low bilge areas or where it might be exposed to direct spray, as the wiring terminals are susceptible to corrosion.
