Microprocessor Control and Drive Interface Analysis
Inadequate current management in small autopilot systems leads to processor failure during high load hydraulic maneuvers. The Simrad NAC-1 Autopilot Computer is engineered to manage drive units up to 8 amps. This unit provides the central logic for DrivePilot systems.
Integration occurs via the NMEA 2000 protocol for synchronized telemetry with Simrad and Lowrance MFDs. The system supports small hydraulic pumps and mechanical cable drives for outboard steering. The compact solid state housing ensures protection to IPX5 standards for console installation.
