Description
Sea-Doo GTX 170 – iBR iDF Touring PWC 2024
Eliminating the high fuel costs of supercharged models without sacrificing hull stability, the 2024 Sea-Doo GTX 170 is the most efficient long-range touring craft in its class. Specifically engineered for the American explorer, this model features the naturally aspirated 170HP Rotax engine, providing the perfect balance of torque for towing and top-end speed for cruising large reservoir systems. For the USA operator, the inclusion of the iDF Debris-Free Pump system and iBR braking means you have total control in tidal rivers and debris-prone lakes, making it a reliable workhorse for all-day excursions.
The GTX 170 shares the legendary ST3 Hull™ with its more powerful siblings, offering a rock-solid foundation for three passengers or extra LinQ accessories like coolers and fuel caddies. Its ergonomic touring seat is designed for maximum comfort, reducing rider fatigue during interstate water travel. This watercraft offers the American market a high-value, durable touring solution that prioritizes fuel economy and structural stability above all else.

Sea-Doo GTX 170 - iBR iDF Touring PWC 2024
The naturally aspirated 1630 ACE engine reaches a gallons per hour rate of approximately 9.5 at wide-open throttle. This makes the GTX 170 one of the most fuel-efficient touring models on the market, allowing for extended voyages on standard 87 octane gasoline without the need for constant refueling stops.
You should check the sacrificial aluminum anode locations on the pump nozzle and the ride plate. Even without a supercharger, the aluminum jet drive must be protected from saltwater electrolysis to prevent pitting and maintain the smooth water flow required for efficient propulsion and predictable handling offshore.
This engine has a 5.3 US Quart FC-W engine oil capacity. Consistent oil changes are vital to the longevity of the naturally aspirated Rotax 1630. Changing the oil annually helps remove acids and contaminants, ensuring the engine remains reliable for years of exploring scenic coastlines and large rivers.
Sea-Doo specifies a minimum marine cranking amps of 550 MCA for the GTX 170. This ensures the digital dashboard and the electronic Intelligent Brake and Reverse (iBR) system function smoothly, providing the necessary power for the electric actuators to respond instantly during docking and low-speed maneuvers.
The ST3 hull is the optimal boat hull application for the 170HP engine, as it provides a stable and dry ride. Its design focuses on stationary stability, making it easy to use as a swim platform or for fishing while anchored, while still offering excellent tracking and comfort at cruising speeds.
