Description
The Raymarine i40 Depth is a compact dedicated depth instrument for small sailboats, tenders, day boats, and cruisers where a full multifunction display would be unnecessary. It shows current depth along with minimum and maximum depth memory, and it gives the helm separate shallow- and deep-water alarms. This is a depth gauge, not a chartplotter or fishfinder.
The high-contrast segmented LCD uses adjustable red backlighting, which is helpful when the boat is running at night and a bright white display would affect dark adaptation. Power draw is only 35mA, rising to 70mA with full backlighting. SeaTalk carries the data, and the display can work with SeaTalkng networks through an optional bridge module. The front is IPX6 protected, while the compact housing fits a small flush-mounted instrument panel.
Key Features
- Dedicated water-depth display – Keeps depth visible without occupying a multifunction display page.
- Minimum and maximum depth memory – Helps review recent depth changes while operating.
- Shallow and deep water alarms – Gives the crew early warning as the boat approaches a limit.
- Adjustable red backlighting – Supports night viewing with lower glare.
- Low 35mA typical draw – Places very little load on a small boat’s electrical system.
Who Is This For?
This compact depth instrument suits 14- to 28-foot sailboats, tenders, day runabouts, and small cruisers. It is not ideal for buyers needing charts, GPS, radar, or sonar imaging; it displays depth from the connected SeaTalk system and sensor.
Compatibility
Confirmed compatibility includes the SeaTalk communication protocol and SeaTalkng networks through an optional bridge module. The supplied information does not identify a specific depth transducer, NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, radar, autopilot, or third-party system. No named incompatible system was provided; verify the SeaTalk network and sensor requirements before installation.

Warranty & Support
The supplied specifications do not state a warranty term. Confirm current Raymarine warranty coverage before purchase.
The i40 Depth is the simple, low-power choice when all the helm really needs is a reliable depth reading and alarms. Its trade-off is limited function: there are no maps, routes, or fishfinding views. Choose it for a small instrument panel with an existing SeaTalk setup, not as a replacement for a Raymarine MFD.
