Description
The Veratron NMEA 2000 Wind Sensor is a masthead transducer for boats that want wind speed and direction available directly on an NMEA 2000 network. It has no display, charting, or wireless radio. The 445mm arm places the sensor above the masthead, while the single Micro-C connection keeps the wiring familiar for a modern sailing instrument installation.
The sensor runs from 9-16V through NMEA 2000 and draws less than 50mA, with a LEN of 1. That keeps its network load small when added to an existing backbone. IPX6 and IPX7 protection suit exposed masthead service, and the 445mm arm provides the listed mounting length. A compatible NMEA 2000 display, backbone, and masthead mounting arrangement are still required; the sensor cannot show wind readings on its own.
Key Features
- NMEA 2000 wind sensor – Sends compatible wind data to the boat’s instrument network.
- 445mm arm – Provides the listed masthead sensor length.
- Less than 50mA draw and LEN 1 – Keeps the network and electrical load low.
- One M12 Micro-C port – Provides the listed NMEA 2000 connection.
- IPX6 and IPX7 protection – Suits exposed masthead installation.
Who Is This For?
This NMEA 2000 wind sensor suits sailing boats adding or replacing a digital masthead sensor on a compatible network. It is not ideal for buyers needing a complete wind display or an analogue Raymarine, B&G, or Garmin conversion, because no display or protocol bridge is included.
Compatibility
Confirmed compatibility includes NMEA 2000 through one M12 Micro-C port and compatible NMEA 2000 wind displays and instruments. The supplied information does not identify Garmin, Raymarine, B&G, Simrad, NMEA 0183, radar, or autopilot compatibility. No named incompatible system was provided; verify the display, backbone, cable, and mast mounting requirements before installation.

Warranty & Support
Veratron provides a 2-year manufacturer warranty. The supplied specifications do not state warranty exclusions or service procedures.
The Veratron sensor is a straightforward choice for a clean NMEA 2000 wind installation. Its trade-off is that it only supplies data; the display and network backbone must already be in place. Choose it when a compatible NMEA 2000 instrument is part of the plan, not when replacing an older analogue wind sensor without a converter.
