Description

The Phasor K3-8.5 is a low-speed marine diesel generator for vessels requiring 8.5 kW of 120/240V single-phase 60Hz AC power. It uses a Kubota D1005-E4BG three-cylinder diesel engine operating at 1,800 RPM and a direct-coupled brushless generator with solid-state voltage regulation. The base configuration is open frame, with a sound enclosure available as an optional accessory.

The generator uses a freshwater heat-exchanger cooling system and a raw-water circuit with an engine-driven circulation pump and bronze raw-water impeller pump. It includes a remote instrument panel with oil-pressure, coolant-temperature, voltage, and hour-meter gauges, plus automatic low-oil-pressure and high-coolant-temperature shutdown protection.

Include air conditioning, battery chargers, refrigeration compressors, pumps, watermakers, galley appliances, and other inductive loads when sizing the generator. Do not rely only on the nameplate wattage of individual appliances.

Installation Considerations

Mount the generator on a rigid vibration-isolated base with service access for oil, fuel filters, coolant, raw-water pump, exhaust, electrical terminals, and optional enclosure panels. Install diesel feed and return lines, a seawater intake and strainer, wet exhaust, ventilation, starting battery, AC distribution, grounding, circuit protection, and shore-power transfer isolation. Installation and commissioning should be completed by a qualified marine generator technician.
