Digital Yacht AISnode NMEA 2000 Boat AIS Class B Receiver
Drawing only 100mA directly from NMEA 2000 backbones, this Digital Yacht AISnode NMEA receiver monitors dual 161.975 and 162.025 MHz frequencies simultaneously, outputting real-time target data inside an IPX7 submersible enclosure at 0.44 lbs.
- Bus-powered design draws only 100mA current
- Dual-channel receiver captures simultaneous AIS frequencies
- IPX7 submersible rating survives wet bilges
- Micro-C connector enables plug-and-play installation

Description
Add receive-only AIS targets to an NMEA 2000 network with the Digital Yacht AISnode. Its dual-channel receiver listens to both AIS channels and places received target information directly on a compatible Micro-C backbone, making it a compact option for chartplotters that support NMEA 2000 AIS data. Need AIS awareness without transmitting your own vessel position? The AISnode draws power from the NMEA 2000 bus, uses low current, and fits into a protected onboard installation.
Key Specifications
- Digital Yacht AISnode NMEA 2000 AIS receiver, model ZDIGAISNODE.
- Dual-channel receive-only AIS receiver.
- Simultaneously receives AIS channels at 161.975 MHz and 162.025 MHz.
- Does not transmit vessel identity, position, or voyage information.
- NMEA 2000 Micro-C network connection, powered by the NMEA 2000 backbone at LEN 1.
- No internal GPS receiver; connected displays use their own compatible GNSS position source.
- Status LEDs for operating condition.
- 12V/24V system compatibility through the NMEA 2000 bus.
- Up to approximately 100 mA draw or 1.2W at 12V.
- IPX7 protection, operating range of 5°F to 131°F (-15°C to 55°C), and approximately 0.44 lb (0.2 kg) weight.
Integration
The AISnode needs a compatible NMEA 2000 display and an AIS/VHF antenna or approved splitter. It is not an AIS transceiver, VHF voice radio, GPS receiver, chartplotter, radar, or emergency beacon. Since it is receive-only, it cannot make your boat visible to other AIS users.
AIS reception depends on antenna height, antenna quality, cable condition, local radio interference, terrain, weather, and other vessels broadcasting valid AIS data. AIS does not show every boat or hazard and should be used alongside radar, charts, a proper lookout, and safe navigation practices.
Installation Notes
Mount the unit in a protected location with access to the NMEA 2000 backbone and AIS antenna cabling. Use a correct Micro-C drop cable and ensure the backbone has proper power insertion and terminating resistors. Keep coaxial and data wiring away from high-current electrical sources where practical.
Verify that the connected chartplotter is configured to show AIS targets and that the NMEA 2000 backbone has sufficient available power. Check receiver status LEDs and test target reception after installation.
Before Ordering
Confirm NMEA 2000/Micro-C compatibility, available backbone capacity, AIS antenna or splitter needs, receiver mounting location, chartplotter AIS support, and whether receive-only operation meets the vessel’s needs before ordering.
