Integration

The MDA-1 needs a dedicated AIS/VHF antenna or approved splitter, a compatible MFD, chartplotter, computer, or mobile app, and accurately entered MMSI/static vessel data. It is not a radar, VHF voice radio, chartplotter, EPIRB, or guaranteed collision-avoidance device.

AIS data relies on VHF reception and on other AIS-equipped vessels transmitting correct information. Receiving AIS targets does not mean every boat, buoy, floating object, or hazard will appear. Installation Notes

Mount the unit below deck in a dry, accessible, ventilated location. Keep VHF/AIS coaxial cable away from high-current wiring, install the GPS antenna with a clear sky view if required, and connect the desired NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, USB, or Wi-Fi pathway to the vessel’s display system.

Use correctly protected 12V/24V wiring, configure the AIS output baud rate where needed, and verify that target reception and vessel transmission appear correctly on the connected device. Professional MMSI programming and system verification are recommended.
