Description
Upgrade AIS visibility and reporting capability on a compatible Simrad, Lowrance, or B&G navigation network with the Simrad V3100 Class B+ AIS Transceiver. Its 5W SOTDMA transmitter, external GNSS antenna, and NMEA 2000/NMEA 0183/USB connections provide a higher-output AIS option for cruisers, sailboats, and offshore boats that need their position shared with nearby AIS-equipped traffic. Need Class B+ AIS without a built-in display? The V3100 uses status LEDs, supports 12V/24V power, and fits into a compact protected interior installation.
Key Specifications
- Simrad V3100 Class B+ AIS transceiver, part number 000-14397-001.
- 5W SOTDMA Class B+ AIS transmission with dual-channel AIS reception.
- Marine AIS frequency range of 156.025–162.025 MHz.

- NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, and USB connectivity.
- Status LED indicators; no integrated chartplotter display or wireless connectivity.
- 9.6V–31.2V DC operating input with up to approximately 3W maximum power consumption.
- IPX7 water protection and operating range of -13°F to 131°F (-25°C to 55°C).
- Approximate dimensions: 5.5 × 3.9 × 1.7 inches; approximate weight: 1.0 lb (0.45 kg).
- Bulkhead or surface mounting.
Integration
The V3100 needs a suitable AIS/VHF antenna or approved splitter, an installed GNSS antenna with clear sky view, correct MMSI/static vessel-data programming, and a compatible MFD, chartplotter, or computer. It is not a VHF voice radio, radar, chartplotter, emergency beacon, or collision-avoidance guarantee.
Class B+ SOTDMA AIS can offer higher transmit output and more structured time-slot access than 2W CSTDMA Class B equipment. Actual AIS reception and transmission depend on antenna quality, VHF conditions, correct programming, and local coverage. AIS does not show every boat, buoy, floating object, or hazard.
Installation Notes
Install the transceiver in a dry, accessible location, connect the external GNSS antenna where it has clear sky view, and use an AIS-rated VHF antenna or approved splitter. Route RF cable away from high-current wiring and connect the required NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, or USB path to the navigation display.
Use a correctly fused 9.6V–31.2V DC circuit. Program accurate MMSI, vessel name, call sign, dimensions, and GNSS antenna offsets before enabling transmission. Test AIS reception, transmission, and target display after installation.
Before Ordering
Confirm Class B+ AIS suitability, MMSI registration, antenna or splitter requirements, GPS antenna location, Simrad/Lowrance/B&G display compatibility, NMEA/USB needs, 12V/24V power, and protected mounting space before ordering.
