Description
Get fast, detailed radar updates without committing to a larger array with the Raymarine Cyclone 3-Foot Open Array Radar System. Its 55W CHIRP pulse-compression scanner, 2.83° beamwidth, and compact 3-foot radiator suit offshore center consoles, sportfishers, and cruisers that need strong target awareness in a smaller installation footprint. Need to monitor close traffic and distant weather from one compatible Raymarine display? The T70490 supports RangeFusion, dual-range operation, Bird Mode, ARPA tracking, and scan speeds up to 60 RPM.
Key Specifications
- Raymarine Cyclone 3-Foot Open Array Radar System, part number T70490.
- 55W solid-state CHIRP pulse-compression radar with RangeFusion processing.
- Includes a pedestal and low-profile 3-foot open-array radiator.
- Up to 72 NM instrumented range and approximately 15 ft (4.5 m) minimum range.
- 2.83° horizontal beamwidth and 25° vertical beamwidth.
- Supports 24, 36, 48, and 60 RPM rotation modes, depending on configuration.
- Supports ARPA tracking for up to 50 targets, Bird Mode, and compatible dual-range operation.
- RayNet high-speed Ethernet radar networking with compatible NMEA 2000/SeaTalkng sensor integration.
- 10.2V–31.2V DC input, approximately 70W transmitting draw, 15W standby draw, IPX6 protection, and a 100-knot wind rating.
- Approximate complete scanner weight: 52.9 lb (24 kg).
Integration
The Cyclone requires a compatible Raymarine MFD and RayNet Ethernet connection for radar control and video. SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 can provide compatible GPS, heading, AIS, autopilot, and other vessel-sensor data. ARPA and radar overlay require valid heading and position sources.
The 72 NM figure is an instrumented range, not a guarantee of target detection at that distance. Antenna height, target size, precipitation, sea state, clutter, settings, and installation quality affect actual results. Radar is a navigation aid and does not replace a proper lookout, safe speed, current charts, or navigation-rule compliance.
Installation Notes
Mount the pedestal and 3-foot array on a rigid, level platform with full rotation clearance and enough structural strength for the scanner, vibration, and wind loads. Keep the array clear of personnel, antennas, masts, rigging, lights, exhaust, and structures that can produce radar shadow sectors.
Use correctly sized power wiring, suitable circuit protection, and protected RayNet cable routing. Follow Raymarine requirements for safe distances, compass separation, grounding, mounting torque, and bearing alignment. Professional installation and commissioning are recommended.
Before Ordering
Confirm compatible Raymarine MFD support, RayNet network capacity, 12V/24V power availability, mounting strength, 3-foot sweep clearance, required cable lengths, and heading/GPS sources for ARPA or radar overlay before ordering.
