Description
Equip a commercial vessel with Class A AIS reporting and bridge-level data connections using a Furuno Class A AIS Transponder. Its SOTDMA transmission protocol, adaptive 12.5W/1W output, integrated color control display, and multiple NMEA interfaces are intended for vessels that require frequent AIS reports and professional navigation-system integration. Need a Class A AIS station with robust external connections? This Furuno transponder supports NMEA 2000, Ethernet, six NMEA 0183 ports, integrated GNSS, and Bridge Alert Management readiness.
Key Specifications

- Integrated 12-channel parallel GNSS receiver.
- 4.3-inch full-color touchscreen control display.
- NMEA 2000, Ethernet, and six NMEA 0183 interfaces.
- 12V/24V DC input with less than approximately 2A draw at 12V during transmission.
- IP20 display and IP22 processor protection for protected interior installation.
- Approximate display face width: 9.1 inches; display-only weight: 3.3 lb (1.5 kg).
- Includes GNSS antenna, junction box, and system cables.
Integration
This Class A transponder requires an approved VHF AIS antenna or compliant splitter, properly installed GNSS antenna, programmed vessel static data, MMSI, and connection to compatible bridge equipment. It is not a radar, chartplotter, VHF voice radio, EPIRB, or guaranteed collision-avoidance system.
Class A AIS use can be mandatory for certain vessel types and operating areas, and installation must comply with applicable FCC, U.S. Coast Guard, flag-state, and SOLAS requirements. AIS data depends on other vessels transmitting accurate information, so it must be used alongside radar, charts, visual lookout, and safe navigation procedures.
Installation Notes
Install the display, processor, and junction equipment in protected interior locations because the listed IP20/IP22 ratings are not intended for direct weather exposure. Position the GNSS antenna with a clear sky view, use correct VHF AIS antenna separation, and route RF, GNSS, data, and power cables away from high-current interference sources.
Have a qualified commercial marine-electronics technician complete installation, MMSI programming, ship-data entry, antenna-offset setup, NMEA configuration, BAM integration, and transmission verification. Do not transmit until vessel information is accurate and regulatory registration is complete.
Before Ordering
Confirm Class A regulatory requirements, MMSI and licensing status, AIS antenna/splitter design, GNSS antenna location, bridge-system compatibility, NMEA/Ethernet needs, protected installation space, 12V/24V supply, and professional commissioning requirements before ordering.
