Description
Install Class B AIS without adding a separate VHF antenna by using the Navico NAIS-500 AIS Bundle with the NSPL-500 antenna splitter and GPS sensor. The package combines a 2W CSTDMA transponder, external GNSS antenna, and VHF/AIS splitter, helping compatible Simrad, Lowrance, or B&G systems share one properly configured VHF antenna for voice and AIS operation. Need a more complete AIS installation kit for a crowded masthead or hardtop? The NAIS-500 provides NMEA 2000, high-speed NMEA 0183, and USB connectivity for compatible navigation displays.

Integration
The bundle requires a compatible MFD, chartplotter, PC, or navigation display to show AIS targets. It is not a VHF voice radio, chartplotter, radar, emergency beacon, or collision-avoidance system. The included splitter is intended to share a suitable VHF antenna with a compatible marine VHF radio, but antenna condition, connection type, installation requirements, and product compatibility must be confirmed before use.
AIS targets depend on VHF reception and other vessels transmitting valid AIS information. Before transmitting, program the correct MMSI and accurate vessel static data. U.S. users should confirm registration, radio licensing, and installation requirements before activating the transceiver. [926][928]
Installation Notes
Mount the NAIS-500 and NSPL-500 in a dry, accessible location with appropriate ventilation and cable access. Install the GPS sensor with clear sky view, connect the splitter between the AIS unit, compatible VHF radio, and shared VHF antenna according to the manufacturer diagram, and route RF cables away from high-current wiring.
Use correctly sized 9.6V–31.2V DC wiring and appropriate circuit protection. Confirm NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183 data output at the chartplotter, then test AIS reception and transmission after programming the MMSI and vessel data.
Before Ordering
Confirm compatible Simrad, Lowrance, B&G, or other NMEA display support; shared VHF antenna compatibility; splitter requirements; GPS sensor placement; MMSI registration; NMEA interface needs; 12V/24V power; and available protected mounting space before ordering.
