Description

Its dual-channel receiver listens to both AIS frequencies and sends target data through high-speed NMEA 0183, making it useful for older chartplotters, radar displays, and marine PCs that do not need to transmit the boat’s own AIS position. Integration

The AIS100 needs a suitable AIS/VHF antenna or approved splitter and a compatible chartplotter, radar display, or PC with a 38,400-baud NMEA 0183 AIS input. It is not a transponder, VHF radio, GPS receiver, chartplotter, radar, or collision-avoidance device.

Since it is receive-only, other vessels cannot see your boat through this unit. AIS reception depends on antenna height, VHF signal conditions, local interference, distance, and other vessels transmitting valid AIS data. AIS does not show every vessel, buoy, floating object, or hazard.

Installation Notes

Install the receiver below deck in a dry, protected location. Use an AIS/VHF antenna or approved splitter, keep coaxial runs in good condition, and route antenna/data cables away from high-current wiring and RF interference where practical. Connect the high-speed NMEA 0183 output to the correct input port on the receiving display or computer.

Use appropriate 12V/24V circuit protection and test target reception after installation. Confirm the display is configured to accept AIS data at 38,400 baud before troubleshooting the receiver.
