Integration

The DRS6AX requires a compatible Furuno NavNet MFD and Furuno Ethernet connection for radar display and control. NMEA 2000 can supply GPS, heading, AIS, autopilot, and other vessel-sensor data, but radar video is carried through Ethernet. Target tracking and radar overlay require compatible heading and position inputs.

The 64 NM figure is an instrumented range, not a guaranteed target-detection distance. Actual results depend on array height, target size, weather, rain, sea clutter, vessel motion, radar settings, and the quality of the radar installation.

Installation Notes

Mount the pedestal and 3.5-foot array on a rigid, level radar platform with complete rotation clearance and enough structural strength for scanner weight, vibration, and wind load. Keep the array clear of people, masts, antennas, rigging, lights, exhaust, and other structures that can create shadow sectors.

Use Furuno-approved radar and Ethernet cables, correctly sized 12V/24V power wiring, suitable circuit protection, and protected cable routing. Follow Furuno guidance for safe distances, grounding, mounting hardware, and bearing alignment. Radar is a navigation aid and does not replace a proper lookout, safe speed, charts, or navigation-rule compliance.
