Integration

The FAR-1523-BB is a black-box radar core, not a complete radar package. It requires a compatible open array, scanner/gearbox, display or monitor, antenna cable, radar-signal cable, power arrangement, and navigation sensors. Furuno supports optional 10 m, 15 m, 20 m, and 30 m antenna cables, which should be specified when ordering. [914]

Target tracking, AIS overlays, stabilized display modes, and other navigation functions require correctly configured heading, position, speed, AIS, and sensor inputs. The 96 NM value is a range scale, not a guaranteed target-detection distance; antenna height, target size, rain, sea clutter, installation, and operating conditions affect real performance.

Installation Notes

Install the processor in a dry, ventilated, protected equipment space because its base enclosure is IP20. Mount the selected scanner and open array on a structurally adequate, level platform with full rotation clearance and manufacturer-specified safe distances from people, compasses, antennas, rigging, exhaust, and obstructions.

Use Furuno-approved cables, correct 24V DC wiring or the approved AC rectifier, suitable circuit protection, grounding, and protected cable routing. A qualified commercial marine-electronics technician should design, install, align, and commission this radar system.
