Integration

The FAR1513 is a black-box radar processor, not a complete radar package. It requires a compatible antenna/scanner assembly, radar display or approved monitor, required power components, Ethernet network, and navigation sensors. Position, speed, heading, AIS, and other inputs determine the availability and quality of overlays, target tracking, and display modes.

The selected antenna affects beamwidth, installation space, and target separation. The 96 NM figure is an instrumented range, not a guaranteed detection distance; scanner elevation, target size, weather, rain, sea state, clutter, system calibration, and installation quality determine real-world results.

Installation Notes

Install the processor in a dry, ventilated, accessible interior equipment location; IP20 protection does not make it suitable for direct spray or weather exposure. Mount the antenna/gearbox assembly on a structurally suitable platform with full turning clearance and required safe distances from people, compasses, antennas, rigging, and other obstructions.

Use Furuno-approved power, data, and antenna cabling with proper grounding and circuit protection. Plan Ethernet, NMEA 0183, AD-10, AIS, and display connections before installation. A qualified commercial marine-electronics technician should complete system design, installation, radar alignment, and commissioning.
